WOMEN'S USE OF THE BIRTH PLAN DURING PRENATAL: SCOPING REVIEW

Objective: to analyze the repercussions of the use of the birth plan in the parturition process by
women during prenatal care, through the literature. Method: this is a scope review built on the PCC
strategy, with "P" being the population (pregnant women), "C" being the concept (birth plan) and
"C" being the context (prenatal care). The search was performed in PubMed, Scopus and EMBASE
(Elsevier) databases. Studies were included in full in English, Spanish or Portuguese, which
involved the theme of the birth plan and had been published until March 2022. Data were collected
from January to March 2022. The selected texts were read in full and data extracted production
characterization, main results and the use of the birth plan was highlighted. Results: the final
sample consisted of 16 eligible articles, which were organized according to the flowchart according
to the PRISMA international guide. Most of the articles were published in 2020 and 2021 (n=4) and
originated in Spain (n=4), followed by Brazil and Africa (n=2). The main theme found was about
the use and construction of the birth plan, its benefits and improvement of the pregnant women's
experience. Conclusion: the birth plan is a flexible and adaptable instrument, the involvement and
participation of family members with professionals are essential in the production and realization of this planning, although it has many benefits, there are still gaps to be filled related to the construction and use of the birth plan. childbirth.
